Kah Ching! $$$ US dollar bills best represented in the colour of GREEN!
The topic is kinda outdated, but I wish to voice out what I think about it, is it the GREEN for the environment? Or the GREEN for more dollar bills? It is about the Performance upgradable CPU! See below, I get the photo somewhere else from the internet.
So.... what do you all think? Malaysians!!! As a complete n00b, I would like to write my blog the n00b way! So that all the n00b out there will understand what am I talking about! (n00b = some geek term referring to 'nobody')
There's lots of fire over this topic, saying that buying a 6 cylinder car which only perform 4 cylinder and have to pay extra for 2 more cylinder to be functioned (^$#&^^@*! I know nothing about cars!). Some said its a business strategy of earning more. Bla and bla... of course, we as consumer will all think about for the best of our pocket $$$.

At first, when I heard the news during September, my first thought about it... BAD IDEA! Yes, considering it will be both failure situation! Consumer not happy, Intel won't be happy either. The happiest person will be the hackers and the pirates! It's not about the upgrades and how strong the software security it has, when its just a few solder can give you the best performance of the chip you have.
This strategy won't bring much $$$ benefits to Intel. Yes, since hackers and pirates around the world will know what to do about it. Consumers think that it's a business strategy because it involve $$$ taking out of their pocket. While the whole concept of having this upgrade card is valuing "money = performance". Means that if you want higher performance, you have to pay more. Sounds reasonable right? It's like if you want somebody to do more work, you have to pay more salary. We all already know that the person has more than he can do! Like we all know that we all have 24 hours per day, we work 8 hours, and if you want us to work more than that, you have to pay the OT! Duh? The 24 hours already been there! So, the 6 cylinder is already in the car, you can only use 4 of them, you have to pay extra to use the extra... that's called VALUE. It's not that the car isn't good enough, it's not that we only have 8 hours in one day of life, it's how much you want to use out of it!How fast you want the car to run, and how hard you want people to work!
Now, here's a nice video which change my mind and inspire me to write this blog today. It's about the environmental GREEN! Not the $$$ green! I believe that most people worried about the $$$ GREEN more than the environmental GREEN.
Every 3 years we are throwing away our so-called obsolete electronic gadgets. We change from iphone to iphone4. Wow! I think that's why tech company like Apple doing so well because of that! You see, Intel is not as fat as in year 2000. You can still see all those fat fat company are doing the same business strategy, making you paying more by buying new stuffs and throwing out old stuffs as fast as possible. You know it! Why is the whole new printer sold just a few ringgit away compare to the spare parts inside it? YOU KNEW IT! And we always want the best out of something, so we throw away the whole stuffs to buy new stuffs since the new stuff is cheaper/same price/a bit bit bit higher price than the spare parts of the old stuffs. And we feel happier when we have new stuffs! We showing off our new iphone4 and getting happy over it.... oh... for the only a couple of years... okay...
It's about design for sustainability! But people love changes! It's a hard business! I can call out for everybody: Think before you throw! But in the real world, the truth is still the truth, the materials are the things that keep people happy! Like everyday, we hope for new food, new restaurant, new event, new place to go, new ice-cream flavour... etc etc...
So... enough for today's rant! I know people are going to say: "Cheh, you wanna talk good to Intel saja mah, lu kerja kat sana. Jual bunga cakap bunga bagui punya lar..." Oh gosh, okay, I admit that, and what for if this performance upgrade card doesn't do more for the company but just giving a new play ground for the hackers? Well, you decide!
