48AiKia! Khoo Kongsi Clan House!

Khoo Kongsi Clan House Penang (Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi)

My visit to Khoo Kongsi house is rather unique.Okay okay, skip the details, you all might already found those info from the net or the official web site. Lets blog about something else!

Here it is, the large building. First of all, before you visit the house, ask yourself some questions. Is it because it is a temple? Yes, it is! It is a temple for the Khoo family ancestors. There is no point for you to light up candles or ask for whatever if you are not a Khoo family member.

You need to pay RM10 for entrance! So think before you decide to go in! Students may have lower entrance fee, however, if you are just look look tourist, it's not worth it.

So what's the best thing to do here? Taking photos? Yeah, sure. There are others big family houses such as Cheah and Yap just around the area and the entrance is free for public.

Here is the best reason for you to make your RM10 worth spent! The artworks! You have to be patient, to be able to find the gems. Every piece of art in the clan temple is very refined and detailed. I don't care much about the history of the building, just another story of some rich man's family, non of my business, but I definitely enjoy the art works.

Conclusion, visit only when you're some die hard fan of art. What else you must do? Search for the secrets of the house of course! I was so lucky to have a member of Khoo family to accompany me to explore the house.
Yes, little secrets all over the places, little gold coin under the stair... etc... the cultural reason on why they do that... etc etc... if you're interested, then you must visit and explore it yourself! It's a great place to study the cultural and enjoy the really fine and authentic traditional Chinese art works.

Do visit the official website: Khoo Kongsi Online
You'll find all the information you need there...
Oh, and The charge RM10 entrance, they didn't have this info there.... LOL... enjoy!
